Topps Flagship Basketball: A LeBron Parallel Lesson

Short answer: Topps Flagship Basketball for 2026-27 streets today, November 5, 2026. Per Topps, Hobby boxes are 20 packs of 12 and guarantee one autograph or relic; Jumbo boxes are 10 packs of 28 and guarantee one autograph and one relic. Checklist Insider logged Hobby at $169.99 and Jumbo at $339.99 in presale, then $179.99 / $349.99 on release day. The chase cards that will matter in a year are not the base rookies — they are the FoilFractor 1/1s, Clear Variations, and Gold 1/1 All Kings. The historic lesson is already in the market: 2003 Topps LeBron James #221 base PSA 10 copies sell about once a day, while 2003 Topps Chrome Refractor #111 PSA 10 copies sell about once a month.

We flagged this window in November sports card drops. More basketball coverage sits on the Basketball hub, and the liquidity frameworks live in Collector Guides.

What ships in Topps Flagship Basketball today

Topps lists Hobby, Jumbo, and Value as available from November 5, with Mega following on November 12. The Checklist Insider guide puts the base set at 300 cards. Official first rookies include AJ Dybantsa #256, Darryn Peterson #257, Cameron Boozer #258, Caleb Wilson #259, and Keaton Wagler #260. The product also carries the first pack-pulled LeBron James Philadelphia 76ers card as a short print, the first Giannis Antetokounmpo Miami Heat cards in a standard Topps NBA release, new Clear Variations, and the first Gold 1/1 All Kings parallels.

  • Hobby: 20 packs × 12 cards; 1 autograph or relic; Hobby-only Victory + Player Number Variations.
  • Jumbo: 10 packs × 28 cards; 1 autograph and 1 relic; Jumbo-only Sandglitter family.
  • Value: street with Hobby/Jumbo on Nov 5; Mega delayed to Nov 12.
  • Parallel top end: FoilFractor 1/1 on base; Gold 1/1 All Kings; Clear Variations are new for this year.

The street-day chase: FoilFractor, Clear, and the Sixers SP

The non-commodity angle on street day is not “buy every Hobby.” It is the box math plus the parallel ladder. Hobby costs about half of Jumbo at Topps/CI pricing and still guarantees a hit — but that hit can be a relic instead of an auto. Jumbo doubles the spend and locks both. If you are hunting Dybantsa ink or a LeBron Sixers FoilFractor, the guaranteed auto in Jumbo is the cleaner path; if you want volume of Clear Variations and base rookies, Hobby spreads further.

Checklist Insider notes the first pack-pulled LeBron 76ers card arrives as a short print with a thinner parallel rainbow than the standard Lakers base. That is the modern echo of a flagship parallel premium: same player, scarcer finish, thinner daily market.

The historic lesson: 2003 Topps #221 vs Chrome Refractor #111

LeBron’s first Topps flagship rookie is 2003-04 Topps #221. The parallel that collectors treat as the premium chrome chase is 2003-04 Topps Chrome Refractor #111 — same draft class, same player, much thinner sales cadence. Card Ladder and SportsCardsPro/PriceCharting both show the liquidity gap without inventing print runs:

  • 2003 Topps #221 base, PSA 10: Card Ladder shows pop 2,846 and 110 sales between August 5 and November 5, 2026, averaging $6,811.80 with a last sale of $5,100 on November 1. SportsCardsPro’s guide sits at $5,739.89 with roughly one PSA 10 sale per day; recent completed sales include $5,100 (Nov 2), $5,073 (Oct 30), $5,612 and $6,100 at Heritage (Oct 29), and $6,224.44 at Goldin (Oct 9).
  • 2003 Topps Chrome Refractor #111, PSA 10: Card Ladder shows pop 182 and only six sales in its tracked window, averaging about $80,140, with a last sale of $69,189.60 on October 15, 2026. SportsCardsPro estimates about one PSA 10 sale per month and guides the grade at $41,407.38; a Goldin PSA 10 sold for $81,748.54 on July 31, 2026.
  • Refractor mid-grades still move, but not daily: SportsCardsPro logs Refractor PSA 9 volume around one sale per week (recent: $28,300 on Nov 3 and $30,000 on Oct 22). That is still far thinner than base #221 PSA 9 volume of about one sale per day.

Same superstar. Same draft year. The base flagship gem is a daily market; the Refractor gem is a monthly market. Price gaps follow scarcity, but the exit problem is the point: a FoilFractor 1/1 or Gold All Kings from today’s Flagship can be the best long-term hold and still be the hardest card to sell the week you need cash.

How to use the LeBron lesson on today’s Flagship

  • Price the guarantee, not the logo. Hobby’s auto-or-relic hit at ~$170–$180 is a different product than Jumbo’s auto-and-relic hit at ~$340–$350.
  • Base RCs will be liquid; 1/1s will not. Dybantsa #256 base will trade constantly after break week. FoilFractor and Gold All Kings will trade on appointment.
  • Use mid-grades of iconic cards as the exit plan. On 2003 #221, PSA 8 and PSA 9 still clear often; on the Refractor, even PSA 9 is a weekly — not daily — market.
  • Do not invent comps for unopened Flagship hits. Street-week asking prices are not sales. Wait for dated completed sales before treating a FoilFractor as “worth X.”
